Styling the Seasons - January
29 Jan 2015
This circle shelf was a bargain I found in Homesense, in the sale section. It was a bit battered, had a distressed finish and a world map painted on hessian as the background. I took it home in the hope I could sand it all back and give it a new lease of life. And after a fair amount of sanding and a few coats of paint, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.
I've been doing lots of de-cluttering and reorganising this month, but I've still purchased just a couple of new little bits. Like the letter C initial which I just couldn't resist, and the tiny bowls which are perfect for tiny treasures. Its nice to have another surface to put a few of our most recent finds on, like the heart stone and driftwood, reminding me of special days out with the kids.
I love bringing in plants and flowers at this time of year. I have little pots with bulbs dotted around the place and vases of cheery daffodils to brighten the place up. I've noticed the daffodils in the garden are nearly flowering and the snow drops have appeared this week. Spring is definitely on its way! x

Nature in the home
24 Apr 2013
Encouraged by Lou this week to forage, these were all found in our garden. We have a little patch of wild and self seeded flowers at the top of our garden amongst the grass, like these forget-me-not's and pretty yellow celandine. I managed to go around them when I did our first mow this week and so some of these come from there. I also found our first bluebell and a couple of periwinkles tucked behind some bushes too - hidden away from any little perfume making hands!

I bought these pretty anemones from our local greengrocers yesterday. It was Elizabeth that spotted them and wanted to pick a bunch out and of course Archie had to have some too. I love how he smells the flowers - sniffing out rather than in. They are now sitting on the shelves in our living room in some jars I had saved.
I also had a go at making this sign letter filled with little succulents. I had seen something similar on Pinterest from here and as I had a bag full of letters in my shed I thought I would give it a go. I think it would have looked better with a few different types of succulents and some different colours though! I also have a couple of massive letters which I have been waiting to do something with and I'm thinking they would make great planters for the garden.
