Junk modelling photo book

28 Aug 2013

Last year when Elizabeth was in reception class, I photographed all of her Junk models that she brought home from school. I wanted to keep a record of all her hard work before having to put them back in the recycling!

I have just made them into a little photo book and love how it turned out. I think its a nice way to remember all her makes without taking up any space, plus she loves looking through it.

Now I just need to write on what they all are - I don't want to forget that they're actually a telescope pirate phone, mummy in a windmill or a panda bear on wheels!

Scrapping catch up...

27 Jun 2012

I haven't shared any scrapbooking for ages, mainly as I have just not been doing much. These are some commissions from the last couple of issues of Scrapbook Magazine. These first two were for the sketch challenge - creating two different layouts from one sketch. I used some little photos of Elizabeth from ages ago in this first one. I cant believe how short her hair was!

These ones were for an 'Inspired by nature' feature.

And this last one was for a 'We'll meet again' theme - scrapping our loved ones and memories of them. I found this one quite hard but chose this fave photo of my nan and grandad and the title 'happy together' as they so were and I like to think still are somewhere!

Srapping catch up

1 Apr 2012

Its been a little while since I did any scrapbooking. It goes like that sometimes, some weeks I have the scrapping bug and cant wait to get all my stash out and some weeks I would rather just sit and pin for an hour before bed! No packing up then! I need to clear out the bottom of my craft cupboard again, that way I can just leave any unfinished pages in there and just do a bit when I get the time. But anyway the last couple of days I have managed to get a bit done.

I completed my March calendar page, and finally my Feb one too! I love this cute bird magnet from Petra Boase.

A couple of layouts too...

Elizabeth had all these little people lined up to go down a slide at the end and then land in a bucket underneath. Its was nice to use a different sized photo other than my usual 6x4!

This one is from a sketch at Just C&S (no - 72 )

And finally, I hadn't got around to showing these ones from the last issue of scrapbook magazine. They were for a feature on using oriental style in your layouts.

Scrapping phone photos!

5 Mar 2012

I went through all the photos I've taken on my phone the other day. The camera on my phone is pretty rubbish so I don't use it much and never really look back at my pictures. It was nice to go through them and see things I had completely forgotten about.

I printed a few off to scrapbook. These layouts are from sketches by just C&S - Nos 67 and 68.

These are some random photos I took with my phone - An ice lolly with 3 sticks, THREE sticks! that deserves a photo right?!  A little message to Elizabeth in alphabet pasta shapes, A cheerio with a heart shaped hole sent to Mason and the button from the remote I found, which I also sent to Mason as I knew he would be impressed that I had found that teeny little button!

These pictures were taken last summer and it was the first time Archie had paddled in the sea. He absolutely loved it but just wanted to run into the water. I didn't have my big camera with me so I was grateful that I had at least captured the moment with my phone camera.

Thrifted Stash

25 Feb 2012

I'm always on the look out for bits and pieces I can use on my layouts. I love finding something that can work as an embellishment on my pages, especially with vintage photos. These are a few of my recent finds...

 Bingo chips and cards

Vintage pins

Cocktail sticks... I'm thinking coloured sticks for mini flags!

Slide mounts... These make cute little frames

View Master slides

Pin badges

Cut out paper dress up dolls and clothes

I found loads of these dolls and clothes cut out from magazines or newspapers, plus a little bag of hand drawn and coloured in ones too. It must have taken someone ages all that time ago.

Hopefully there will be some more thrifting this weekend. We have been busy with Elizabeth's friends birthday parties the last few weekends - it seems they must all be really close in age. So this weekend its nice to have no real plans, although my iPad died this week :(  so I will be taking it to the Apple Dr this morning. Just hoping it doesn't cost me a fortune to get fixed!

Hope you have a good weekend.

More Vintage!

16 Feb 2012

It was our local monthly crop this week so I managed to complete a few layouts. Its great to go and catch up with my sister and have 3 hours of uninterrupted scrappy time.

I have used some more vintage photos, as again I was not organised enough to get some recent photos printed off and had to go through my little stash of 'oldies' I have that are already copied and ready to scrap. Oh to have a photo printer at home again!  But hey at least it means my vintage album is finally looking a little fuller.

This first one is my Nan when she was younger near the beach where she worked in a little kiosk. I love this beach, its one of the things I miss most about living on the Isle of Wight.

I used some vintage fabric for this one. And more yellow! I am loving A Month of Sunrays on Julie Kirk's blog 'notes on paper' this month and that inspired me to join in with this layout.

This is the house where my mum grew up. You can really see how remote it was from this landscape photo.

I love this photo of mum and her friends when she was younger. Its just so 60's, with mum holding onto her Beatles record.

Im really loving punches again at the moment. This one was a little tricky getting them all evenly lined up though!

Park Life

9 Feb 2012

Hello, I have a few layouts to share today. I have been busy scrapping away in the evenings this week. Some times weeks go by and I have little inspiration to scrap and then others I cant wait to get my paper and glue out and have a play when the kids have gone to bed. Well its been one of those this week.

I think Elizabeth would like to play outside all the time if she could. On this day we went to the park and I was absolutely frozen but she just doesn't seem to mind. When I drop her off at nursery she goes straight out in to the garden and I know she will be outside when I pick her up.

The next couple are sketches fom just C&S (64 and 65). I didnt make loads of changes to the original sketches as I loved the simple designs

I loved these photos of Archie and Elizabeth painting, even though they are not the best quality. Elizabeth completed quite a few masterpieces, where as Archie had a quick go and then decided the rest of the garden needed a little colour and set about painting the bushes and plants.

Shape Love

26 Jan 2012

I have completed a few layouts inspired by shapes this week.

An at 18 months page. Just noted down a few things Archie is doing right now. I love looking back at these pages, it is easy to forget what they were like at certain stages and although I try to write down on my callendar pages everytime he says or does something new its nice to do a whole page every so often.

He seems to be coming out with new words every day now. When he really starts to talk I will miss those little conversations we have, the ones where he has soo much to say and its said so importantly but none of its actuall words.

Archie and Elizabeth have been getting on really well lately (most of the time). They dont bicker so much now and actually play together nicely. Its really sweet when I catch them having cuddles on the sofa and they really make each other laugh. Just hope it continues.

I love it when I get to spend some time with Elizabeth on her own. Her Nanny looked after Archie for the afternoon and we got out the Play-doh.  Love the little cakes and biscuits she makes, all set out on little plates to show daddy when he comes home.

Vintage photos catch up

13 Jan 2012

I have completed a few more layouts for my vintage photos album this week, mainly because I didn't have any recent photos printed off to take to scrapbook evening and I had these ones ready to be scrapped.

There's not much journaling on these, I do find it hard to write about old photos but I still want to get anything I do know down on paper. I need to go through a few photos with the family to see what everyone can remember!
