2014... and a Happy New Year!

31 Dec 2014

Hello! I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was lovely, lots of beach walks, eating far too much (diet starts tomorrow!) Lego building, crafting and telly watching.

I've put together some of my Instagram photos from 2014. I've missed making these little collages at the end of each month. I went a bit quiet on Instagram for a while, and I just didn't have enough pictures to make it worth bothering. I might start again in the New Year, a visual round up of each month.

This morning we've taken down the tree and had a good de-clutter ready for the New Year. I've also been writing lots of plans, goals and lists in my new journal. I do like a bit of list making... and a new notebook.

2015 I'm ready for you!

A big thank you for following along this last year, for all your kind comments and support.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy year ahead! xoxo

Merry Christmas!

24 Dec 2014

Hello! I hope your all having a good Christmas Eve. Just one more sleep!

We've watched Santa flying overhead (International Space Station) sprinkled our reindeer food on the lawn, and have just got back from a little Christmas lights tour in the car - so many good ones! The kids are so super excited now, like pinging up and down excited!

We just need to hang our stockings and leave a snack for Santa before bed. Elizabeth has made the sweetest bag of presents and drawings to leave for him, including a new belt, friendship bracelet and a little hat for one of his Elves - I'm so glad I actually get to keep these things!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! xoxo

Collected Treasures

Our collected treasures for December... stones with stripes and holes, a heart shaped stone, driftwood, pieces of rope, berries, seed pods, a feather, random plastic things and a fish skull.

Each month I photograph the bits and bobs we've gathered on our adventures out and about, at the beach, the forest or the park! Its my way of documenting and remembering those special finds picked up by the kids or myself, before they get moved off our window sill to make room for new treasures!

As always, please feel free to join in and show your collections too. You can find them on Instagram as #collected_treasures and you can see more Inspiration on my Pinterest board! x

DIY Wooden Tree Decorations

DIY Wooden Tree Decorations - scraps of us

I was playing train tracks with the boy a while ago, standing up the little trees, when I thought what cute Christmas tree decorations they could make. Don't worry though, I didn't take the boys ones! I found a lot of mixed trees and little road signs on Ebay, for just a couple of pounds.

DIY Wooden Tree Decorations

You will need:

Wooden train track trees
Spray paint
Twine, string or ribbon
Bradawl
Pliers
Small screw eyes

DIY Wooden Tree Decorations

First, using the bradawl, make a small hole in the top of the trees to make a starting hole for the screw eyes. Use the pliers to screw the hooks securely into the wood.

DIY Wooden Tree Decorations

Using your chosen colours, spray paint the trees in a well ventilated area. I used these as I already had them from another project.

Once both sides have been sprayed, and they are completely dry, simply tie some lengths of twine or string on to the hooks and they're all ready for hanging!

DIY polymer clay and copper tube necklaces

DIY polymer clay and copper tube necklaces

I've been making lots of polymer clay beads to use in necklaces this week, hopefully to give as extra little Christmas presents. I've made them before with Elizabeth, but this time I thought I'd try and incorporate some different beads too.

I used some wooden geometric beads, which I left natural, but I might try spraying or painting some next time too. I also used some some copper tube beads in a few of the necklaces. These were a little trickier to put together as they are so light in comparison to the clay beads. To keep the tube beads off centre, I just tied some little knots in the wax cord where I wanted them to sit, that way the heavier beads didn't fall to the centre of the necklace.

I quite like how they turned out, especially with the combination of the metal, wood and clay together. I think I might have to keep one or two for myself!
