Nature in the home

We collected some little acorn tops when we went to the park last week. There weren't so many acorns to be found - I think they had already been snaffled away, but there were lots of tops!

As pretty as they are already, I kind of wanted to do something with them so I made them into some little mini bowls. I sanded the bottom of each one a little so they sat upright and then I painted the insides with Acrylic paint. I quite like how they turned out - I'm not exactly sure what to do with them, but they do look quite cute sat on the fireplace with the pumpkins and gourds we bought at the farm shop this week.

Not long until Halloween now! The kids have both chosen their costumes this week - a  pirate dress for Elizabeth and a vampire outfit for Archie. They are going to a party on Thursday and are soo excited. Its the first year they have really taken much interest, Elizabeth has literally been counting down the days!

We decorated our pumpkins this week too. I let the kids paint them this year - I figured that way they could actually have some part in decorating them instead of just watching me carve them out! Elizabeth has even made everyone Happy Halloween cards this year and has just told me she will also be expecting a nice drawn card too - I'd better get the crayons out then!

Nature in the home

Yay nature in the home with Lou of little green shed is back! I'm looking forward to joining in again with the new Autumn series

We came across all these conkers by accident the other day when walking back to the car after a Dr's appointment. We saw a few laying on all the leaves and when we looked a little closer we realised there were loads of them and filled all our pockets, carrying as many as we could back with us. It still brings back the excitement of finding conkers as a kid - like finding a little shiny gem amongst the leaves! I guess no one else had thought to look for them there. We weren't nearly as successful on our conker search at the park last week!

I quite like them simply sitting in this heart shaped bowl at home - plus they are keeping the spiders at bay. Or is that just an old wives tale?!

Lately...

A few pictures from the last week or so. The boy has started nursery now which he loves and I must say its quite nice to have a couple of hours in the mornings to myself too. I love the fact that he still comes home for lunch and we get to spend the rest of the afternoon together, either exploring at the park or beach or just playing at home.

Elizabeth is doing really well with her reading lately and usually reads to me before bed - though I have also just started reading some longer books to her bit by bit each night which has made a nice change! She brings me home the sweetest stories she has made at school too. I'm already building up quite a large collection of letters and bits though - I just cant bear to throw any away!

You might have noticed I have some new little blog buttons up there and I am now on Facebook and Twitter - I would love you to find me there if you haven't already!

I think I get Twitter - though I am still totally confused by Facebook. I have never actually used my personal Facebook account so its all new to me! I'm not sure how I like people back when they have a business page. Do I have to do that from my personal page? Also does anyone know how I make my pictures full size? Mine are either teeny tiny or long and thin! I would muchly appreciate any advice! xx
