At the beach

29 Jul 2012

We spent some time at the beach over the weekend.  On Friday when Em finished work, we headed down to the seafront and had chips for our dinner down there. It was lovely and warm when we first arrived and the kids soon stripped off for a paddle in the sea, though it quickly clouded over and the tights went back on!

I really love this bit of beach, its pretty stony (like all the beaches around here) but so quiet - especially at that time of day! I would love to live in one of the houses there that back on to the beach. How lovely to be that close and just look out of the window to the sea everyday.

Summer days...

25 Jul 2012

Oh how we are loving the sunshine.
We have been spending a whole lot of time in the garden...
Washing dolls clothes
Wearing cossie's
Splashing in the paddling pool
Blowing bubbles
Making perfume
Playing in the tunnel
Finding some shade
Eating ice creams
And bbq dinners.

It finally feels like summer. I like it!

This week...

20 Jul 2012

♥ Archie had his 2nd birthday.
♥ We watched the Olympic torch go by... in the rain!
♥ We had cake and presents with family.
♥ We had dinner at Pizza Hut.
♥ We went to Bournemouth to see my sister and little Spencer.
♥ Elizabeth got a new hair cut.
♥ Elizabeth said goodbye to some of her nursery friends. She dressed up all week... today a witch!

Phew! Its been a busy week, and slightly emotional too - with the little mans birthday and Elizabeth going to school soon. They are growing up so fast!

Tomorrow we are going to get Elizabeth's school uniform in town. (I'm trying to be organised!) She is super excited and talks about it all the time. I know she will love it there and is so ready for it, but I cant help feel a bit nervous for her. I'm just glad she is going to the same school as some of her little friends.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to spending some more time with her over the summer holidays. We have been to Hobbycraft today and stocked up on lots of crafty things to do together. I'm looking forward to having some lazy home mornings too! If we could just have that summer weather now please - a few picnics and beach days would be really nice!

Hope you all have great weekend.

Marwell...

15 Jul 2012

Tomorrow is Archie's 2nd birthday, so today we had a day out at Marwell zoo. We had a really lovely day - even the weather was great for a change!

Archie just loved watching the animals, everything was called either a rabbit or chicken! He's at a really lovely age now to go out for the day as he's pretty much stopped having day time naps. Although I do miss having that break in the day sometimes, it does make it easier when out and about as he doesn't get so tired. He never was one to fall asleep in his buggy easily!

Elizabeth managed to get herself completely covered in mud after being there all of ten minutes. Luckily I had a full change of clothes back at the car and she was super impressed to get a special paw stamp on her hand to allow us back in. She has gone to bed tonight wearing her giraffe ears (chosen from the gift shop) so I might have to try and get a photo of that in a minute!

Tomorrow will be just catching up with some family at home for birthday cake and pressies. Plus the Olympic torch is coming round our way so we'll be going to see that.

Archies room...

9 Jul 2012

We finally finished off the last bits in Archie's room this weekend, putting up these little scrabble shelves. I found the idea on pinterest with wooden ones, but I thought the grey went kind of well in his room! Its a good use of space behind the airing cupboard door and he likes rearranging them all.

I used the wallpapers I bought from here to line the little cube shelves. The school hooks were found at a car boot sale, the little pockets in the top  are just the right size to keep books in. The coloured draw string bags keep a few more toys in and my mum made the hen door stop.

I wanted the room to have a bit of a car theme - he does love his cars! I used some road wall stickers and painted some orange stripes around the top of the room. I thought about having an orange carpet but couldn't find one quite bright enough.

Before we moved Archie was still sharing a room with us so its lovely for him to have his own little space now. I just have a couple of little bits to do in Elizabeth's room and then that's all finished too!

Strawberries and Peppa...

4 Jul 2012

On Sunday we went strawberry picking at a nearby pick-your-own. We finally had some nice weather for it on the weekend. Elizabeth did pretty well, picking the big red ones. Archie just munched way more than he picked. Hopefully we'll go back soon for some raspberry picking!

And yesterday Emil took the day off work for a trip to Peppa Pig world at Paultons Park. We went there before when it had just opened and really loved it, but the queues were massive and Archie was really too small to enjoy it. This time they both really loved it, went on all the rides and were so excited to meet Peppa and George.

It rained for most of the day (of course!) but we bought the kids some new wellies on the way so they were quite happy splashing in all the puddles - Peppa style! Elizabeth took her camera with her and I went through them and printed a few off this morning for her to take to nursery. I love how she captures different views of things than I do, like her new wellies and Em driving with added bonkers!
